Privacy at Talecut

Last updated: 27 August 2026

Talecut is a product of Bitmovin, and Bitmovin’s Privacy Policy governs your use of it. It covers who the data controller is, your rights, international transfers, and how to contact us. The sections below add what is specific to Talecut and is not described there.

What Talecut processes that the main policy does not cover

  • The video you upload — the film or episode you give us to work on. We store it to run the processing pipeline and to let you come back to your results.
  • The episodes we generate from it, and the intermediate analysis behind them (scene detection, transcript, subject tracking).
  • Your account, handled by our authentication provider Supabase: email address and sign-in details.
  • Feedback you choose to send through the in-app feedback control.
  • Anonymous page-view counts (no cookies, no identifier), and, only if you accept them, analytics and session recordings — see below.

Your uploaded video and the episodes cut from it are used only to provide the service to you. We do not use them to train models, and we do not share them with anyone beyond the processors listed below.

Cookies and analytics

We use one strictly necessary browser storage entry to keep you signed in (handled by Supabase), and one to remember your answer to the analytics question below. Neither can be switched off without breaking the site, and neither is used to track you elsewhere.

Our hosting provider, Vercel, counts page views for us: which page was opened, from which country, on which kind of browser and device, and which campaign link led there. It sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device and assigns you no identifier, so it cannot follow you from one visit to the next. We use it to see whether the site is reachable and whether an advertisement brings anyone to it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Everything else is opt-in. Our analytics software (PostHog) is loaded by your browser but starts switched off: unless and until you accept the banner, it records nothing, sends us nothing, and stores no cookies or other data on your device. If you decline, or simply never answer, it stays switched off. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), and you can withdraw it at any time through the “Cookies” link in the footer — we then switch it back off and delete the identifiers it had stored, with no effect on anything you have already done here.

With your consent we collect which pages you open and which actions you take (uploading, playing an episode), your approximate location derived from your IP address, your browser and device type, and a session recording — a replay of how you moved through the interface. Everything you type is masked before it leaves your browser, and video players are excluded entirely, so your uploaded film and the episodes we generate are never recorded. PostHog processes this in the EU.

Who processes Talecut data for us

In addition to the processors named in Bitmovin’s Privacy Policy, this product uses:

  • Supabase — authentication and account storage (Ireland).
  • Google Cloud — running the processing pipeline and storing your video and episodes (europe-west1 and europe-west4; project ai-incubator-2026).
  • Bitmovin's AI Content Analysis service — scene detection, run on Google Cloud (europe-west1; project bitmovin-aica-dev).
  • Google Gemini (Google LLC) — story and script authoring, subject tracking, active-speaker detection, and on-screen text reading.
  • faster-whisper — transcription, run as a local model on our own infrastructure, not sent to an external transcription service.
  • Vercel — hosting the website and counting page views without cookies or identifiers.
  • PostHog — product analytics and session recording, only with your consent (EU region).
  • Stripe — payments, if and when you buy a plan.
  • Resend — transactional email.

Each processor acts under a data processing agreement. Our own pipeline processing and storage run in EU regions of Google Cloud, so they do not involve a transfer outside the EEA. Where a processor operates outside the EEA, the transfer safeguards are the ones described under international transfers in Bitmovin’s Privacy Policy.

How long we keep it

Deleting a run removes the episodes generated from it and the analysis behind them. Deleting your account removes your account record and your runs. Both are available to you at any time from the app.

The source video you uploaded is kept on our infrastructure during the beta and is not removed automatically. If you want an upload erased, write to privacy@bitmovin.com and we will delete it — that is your right of erasure, and during the beta it is how you exercise it for source material.

Your rights and how to reach us

Your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and how to exercise them, are set out in Bitmovin’s Privacy Policy, which also names the data controller and the EEA representative. For anything specific to Talecut, contact privacy@bitmovin.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — in Austria, the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at).

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice; material changes will be signalled in the app, and a material change to what we collect with your consent will ask you the analytics question again.
